Meet Ashley Kelsey, Owner & Head Seamstress

Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, even my older sister’s clothing and socks became inspiration as I created sweater vests and evening gowns for my beloved Barbie and Ken. As I grew older, that creativity found its way into my own wardrobe. Thrift stores became my haven, where size was never a barrier if I loved a fabric, pattern, or silhouette. A funky blazer or pair of gaucho pants could always be altered, reshaped, and made uniquely mine. It was there that my love for altering clothing truly began.

That passion led me to Kennesaw State University, where I earned a BAT in Apparel & Textiles and developed a deeper understanding of garment construction, fit, and the craftsmanship behind fashion. My first industry position at a renowned bridal store changed everything. Working with intricate wedding gowns and formalwear, I discovered how much I loved the precision of bridal alterations—and the privilege of helping a bride feel incredible in her gown.

In March 2018, I opened Alabaster Bridal Alterations with a vision of creating a more personal, detail-focused bridal alterations experience. Today, from our Marietta studio, I specialize in wedding dress alterations including hemming, bustles, bodice and fit adjustments, straps and sleeves, lacework, and custom gown modifications.

Every wedding gown brings something different to my workroom, and that's part of what I love most. Whether we're perfecting the fit or transforming a detail to make your gown feel more like you, my goal is always the same:

Where your dress becomes your own. ♡

I found my way to Alabaster Bridal Alterations after a journey through luxury retail, nonprofit work, and customer-focused roles. After graduating from Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Public Relations, I discovered my passion for exceptional service, boutique experiences, and making people feel genuinely cared for.

From luxury jewelry and wedding coordination to beauty brands, I've always been drawn to creative and intentional environments which made Alabaster feel like a natural fit. I manage client experience, outreach, and many of the little details that happen before and after your bridal fitting. Most of all, I love getting to know our brides and their loved ones and helping make the wedding dress alterations experience feel a little more personal and a lot less stressful.
